September 11, 2023 - With Marist set to celebrate its 100th year in 2029, the College unveiled Marist 100, a plan for the future based on a vision of improving the world through education. President Kevin Weinman introduced the seven-year plan, which underscores a commitment to three core pillars: academic vibrancy, student centrality, and expansive community.

“It’s clear to me that Marist is ready to hit the accelerator with all the confidence of a college on the rise,” Weinman said.

The culmination of a yearlong collaborative effort, contributors to Marist 100 came from a broad cross-section of the Marist community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, Board of Trustees members, and friends. This shared endeavor has forged new connections and articulated an ambitious, yet attainable, vision for the institution's future.

The Three Pillars of Marist 100

Academic Vibrancy: Marist will foster a dynamic fusion of liberal arts and pre-professional training. Students will experience an education that is relevant, innovative, experiential, interdisciplinary, globally connected, and greater than the sum of its parts.

Image of Student Centrality pillar

Student Centrality: Marist seeks to lead in student-centered teaching and learning, cultivating a distinctive student experience, characterized by a vibrant campus culture that remains deeply engaged. The institution's unique size allows for individualized care and attention, empowering each student to thrive.

Expansive Community: Marist aspires to create a global community, enriching the learning environment for all. The College aims to foster profound connections and belonging across its internal, local, and global communities, promoting enduring ties and lifelong engagement among generations of students.

As part of this last pillar, and in an effort to inform and energize the Marist community across the globe, President Weinman will speak at events celebrating Marist 100 in cities far and wide. Throughout the fall semester, events are scheduled in Florence, Dublin, Madrid, Denver, New York City, and virtually in order to cultivate support for Marist’s future and introduce the College to new audiences

“Becoming a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive institution — where every member of our community feels not only a deep sense of belonging, but that Marist is their college as much as anyone else’s — is not just an important part of our mission. Our ongoing viability and success depend on it, especially in a rapidly changing world,” Weinman said.

These events will also highlight the strategic plan’s efforts to meet the moment and address challenges that come with the complex 21st-century landscape for higher education. Marist 100 focuses on making college education accessible to a broader range of talented students, capitalizing on the value of the College’s highly personalized experience.
